Ultra CD provides a smooth, easy and high performance alternative to the cddb server available from freedb. Written entirely from the ground up for the dot net platform, Ultra CD is designed to be portable and extensible with future capabilities.
Ultra CD’s Unique caching and performance acceleration make it a logical choice for system administrators that have local databases or are hosting a current freedb architecture service. Ultra CD’s Linear scalability makes it an attractive option for administrators, and companies that host internal databases.
Ultra CD is secure, it’s automatic and manual update mechanisms provide the opportunity for system administrators to choose whether to allow content to be pushed to the server weekly or to be automatically pulled once a month. Or even to be manually downloaded and installed.
Ultra CD will also provide an automatic heartbeat plugin that integrates into out sBoot architecture machines for automatic restarting of the server if it goes down.
Ultra CD is self-repairing. If our health monitor begins to detect inconsistencies in the database or finds that the records have been tampered with, the server may at the administrator’s option, send an email, shutdown, execute an external program or perform any combination of the above. Ultra CD can perform an automatic re-get of the afflicted records from the master servers, or wait for approval from the administrator.
Because Ultra CD has been written with stability in mind, Ultra CD can also start/restart/stop its backend SQL server automatically. (Requires additional purchase, available Q4 - 2004) Ultra CD can also be configured to provide notification if the performance of the server falls below a pre-set level, the optional sql-server monitor plugin will provide the ability to monitor the sql server as well.
Ultra CD provides a myriad of manual performance tweaks to maximize speed and minimize the likelihood of failure. Performance profiles can be saved and loaded on the fly and changed remotely via VPN. (External software required)

IIS and Apache Compatible; Ultra CD will provide APIs and objects that are compatible with IIS and Apache. This provides maximum compatibility for individuals that need the specialization of apache, and do not have an extra front-end web server to dedicate to Ultra CD.
